The shakes here are amazing. Easily my favorite shake place in Bear Lake. I love the Heath shake- not too much Heath and not too little.

The shake was good. The service and food were not good.

Great berry smoothies. Very big and tastes like frozen yogurt. Was the highlight of our raspberry day in Garden City, Utah.

We checked Yelp, as we usually do when traveling through cities we haven't been to before. We had three families, went there last Friday the 13th. For just about every family before the total bill was about $40-$45. The lady who took our order at the window must've scratched out the ticket three or four times because she obviously had some problems writing down the order. The food was absolutely ridiculous. Look like a bunch of eighth-graders cooked it. Here's what we got that really was not good in any way shape or form. One of the hamburgers was very very undercooked. Another one of the hamburgers was burnt all around the edges pretty bad. One of the buns on the hamburger was almost black from being burned. Out of six sandwiches as I'm looking at them right now have to send pieces of meat in them. We could taste the bread quite a bit more than we could taste any meat. I'm looking at a turkey, pastrami, and ham. All three the sandwiches meat is very hard, similar to cardboard. We waited for about 15 minutes each to cook us just a simple meal. We do not try the shakes so I have no feedback although I hear they're pretty good. But as for lunch or dinner, I would never, ever recommend this to anybody or any family. Just a bad experience overall for all three of the families that went there with us. Save the money go somewhere else. As an example we spent almost $42 for three sandwiches and two corndogs for my family, plus drinks. For the same price we could've went and bought four beautiful steaks and easily cook them much better.

Okay, like Rob F., I really enjoyed Jake's Place; though, my culinary experience was limited to Jake's Shakes ... and I did managed to mooch one beer-battered onion ring from my brother. This was my first time to the Bear Lake area, though we visited there with several who had much experience. They said Jakes was the place, and we were not disappointed by the shakes. I did have the requisite raspberry, and it was definitely good. Thick. Creamy. Blended with a vanilla base added a nice base and depth of flavor. The smaller size is definitely sufficient ... though, I would probably still get a large. [Yes, I'm a pig.] The next day, I tried a chocolate shake with caramel. It was also tasty. A couple of quick complaints / comments. First, I have no, direct comparative reference to the several other shake places in Garden City. Second, the service was pleasant, but not always attentive - my salted caramel and chocolate shake came back first as a pineapple and chocolate shake. While I appreciated the suggestion, it wasn't what I ordered. The second iteration was a straight caramel and chocolate shake ... still not the salted caramel. Third, they are very slow. I get that craftspeople take more time, but it can be tediously slow. Not much else to do while waiting outside at this busy intersection.

There are tons of places to choose from when eating in Garden City. Why not try Jake's Place? It's the newest eatery which opened in May of 2012. Instead of greasy burgers you can get fresh sandwiches made with bread from Old Grist Mill. There are pulled pork, beef brisket, roast beef, and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. They feature Week's family jam which you can simply have on a slice of bread. And of course they have a variety of berry shakes to choose from. Service is a little slow when it is busy but it's worth the wait. I do have issues with their menu prices. I ordered a shake combo special but it only applies to the regular. I tried to upgrade the combo to the large. The large shake is only 35 cents more but if you get the large cob it's a whole dollar more. It doesn't make sense.

Our family stopped in for a late lunch and we're not impressed. The sandwiches were small, overpriced, and doesn't come with anything: no fries, no chips, no pickle, nothing. The staff were very young and quite rude: we were not allowed more than three ketchup packets. Really? We won't be back. I would recommend you avoid this place if you want anything other than shakes. The shakes, only in the area other than at the koa, made with hard ice cream, were really good. This is the only redeeming quality. Also seems less crowded than the other soft-serve places.
